2021 Iowa Hawkeyes Football Team
The 2021 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the University of Iowa during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Hawkeyes played their home games at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, and competed in the West Division of the Big Ten Conference. They were led by 23rd-year head coach Kirk Ferentz. With a victory over rival Nebraska on November 26 coupled with a Wisconsin loss to Minnesota the following day, Iowa won its first Big Ten West title since 2015. Kirk Ferentz
Kirk James Ferentz (born August 1, 1955) is an American football coach. He is the current head football coach at the University of Iowa, a position he has held since the 1999 season. From 1990 to 1992, Ferentz was the head football coach at the University of Maine. He has also served as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Ferentz played college football as a linebacker at the University of Connecticut from 1974 to 1976. Since 2017, he has been the longest tenured FBS coach with one program. Ferentz is the all-time wins leader at Iowa. Playing career Ferentz played high school football at Upper St. Clair High School near Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Tyler Linderbaum (born April 7, 2000) is an American football Center (gridiron football), center for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at University of Iowa, Iowa and was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Early years Linderbaum was born on April 7, 2000, in Solon, Iowa and is of German American, German descent. He later attended Solon High School, where he played both offensive and defensive line. Linderbaum played in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Game. He committed to the University of Iowa to play college football. College career Linderbaum began his career at Iowa as a defensive lineman before moving to center prior to the 2019 season. He started all 13 games that season. The Music City Bowl is a post-season American college football bowl game certified by the NCAA that has been played in Nashville, Tennessee, since 1998. Since 2020, it has been sponsored by TransPerfect and is officially known as the ''TransPerfect Music City Bowl''.
