2021 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships – Women's Extreme Slalom
The Women's Extreme slalom at the 2021 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships took place on 24 and 26 September 2021 at the Čunovo Water Sports Centre in Bratislava. It was the 4th edition of the event, after it made its debut in 2017 in Pau. 55 athletes from 24 nations competed. The event was won by Jessica Fox of Australia, her 8th individual title in a third unique event. German Elena Apel won silver securing a third medal of the Championships along with her C1 world title and K1 silver, whilst 17 year old Evy Leibfarth won bronze, making her the youngest ever medallist in this event and securing USA's first canoe slalom medal since Michal Smolen won bronze in men's K1 in 2015. Background Reigning world champion Veronika Vojtová of the Czech Republic, who took the title in 2019 in Prague, did not compete after missing out on domestic selection. 2021 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships
The 2021 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships took place from 22 to 26 September 2021 in Bratislava, Slovakia under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 41st edition. The events took place at the Čunovo Water Sports Centre which was reconstructed before the championships. Bratislava hosted the championships for the second time after previously hosting in 2011 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, 2011. Bratislava also hosted the 2021 Wildwater Canoeing World Championships as part of the same event. Schedule Ten medal events were contested. Ana Sátila
Ana Sátila Vieira Vargas (born 13 March 1996) is a Brazilian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2011. Career She began sport training at the age of 4 and qualified for the Olympics at the age of 15. Satila participated in 3 Olympic Games. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Sátila was the youngest female competitor in canoe slalom. She competed in the K1 event, finishing 16th in the heats, failing to qualify for the semifinals. She finished in 17th place in the K1 event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She qualified to represent Brazil at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in both women's events. Eliška Mintálová (born 23 March 1999) is a Slovak slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2016. She won two medals at the World Championships with a silver in the K1 event in 2023 and a bronze in the K1 team event in 2021. Luuka Jones
Luuka Jones (born 18 October 1988) is a New Zealand slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2006. Early life Jones was born in Tauranga in 1988. Her mother Denise Jones was a fan of the British actress Audrey Hepburn and Luuka Jones was named after Hepburn's second son, Luca Dotti. Her father is Rod Jones and she has three sisters. She was brought up adjacent to the Wairoa River. She took up kayaking at age ten and received lessons from Waimarino Adventure Park nearby. Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible.
