The men's 1500 metres event at the 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held on 4 March 2021 at 20:20 (heats), and on 5 March at 21:35 (final) local time. Ingebrigtsen was initially disqualified for stepping out of the lane. 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held from 4 to 7 March 2021 at the Arena Toruń in Toruń, Poland. This was the second time this event was held in Poland after the 1975 edition in Katowice. The four-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events. Altogether 659 athletes from 46 countries participated in the event which is a record in the competition's history. The Netherlands topped the medal table for the first time with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Katarzynka, a gingerbread, was the mascot. Luke McCann (born 12 March 1998) is an Irish track and field athlete. Career In May 2021, in Ostrava McCann lowered his 1500m personal best to 3:37.77. The following week, he lowered it again to 3:36.81 in Montreuil. In February 2022, he claimed the Irish indoor record over 1000 metres, in Kentucky. In August 2022, McCann set a new Irish national record over 1000 metres outdoors, running 2:16.40 at the Diamond League event in Monaco. He qualified for the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon through his ranking, however the Irish Athletics Association controversially chose not to select him. He won the silver medal in the event at the 2023 European Indoor Championships and bronze at the 2015 European Under-23 Championships.
