2021 Eastern Kentucky Colonels Football Team
The 2021 Eastern Kentucky Colonels football team represented Eastern Kentucky University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by Walt Wells in his second season. The Colonels played their home games at Roy Kidd Stadium and competed as a member of the ASUN Conference. The ASUN Conference and Western Athletic Conference announced the formation of the WAC-ASUN Challenge (AQ7) for the 2021 season on February 23, 2021. The Challenge included the four fully qualified Division I (FCS) members of the WAC ( Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston, and Stephen F. Austin) and Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville State of the ASUN Conference. The winner of the challenge received an auto-bid to the NCAA Division I FCS football playoffs. Walt Wells
Walt Wells (born October 26, 1967) is an American football coach. He is the head football coach at Eastern Kentucky University, a position he has held since 2019. Career Wells has over 20 years of coaching experience as an offensive line coach and coordinator with previous stops at Eastern Kentucky (1997–2002, 2015), New Mexico State (2014), South Florida (2013) and Western Kentucky (2003–2012). He also coached at Cumberland University from 1994 to 1996 and Smryna High School from 1992 to 1993. On February 7, 2017, Walt Wells was promoted to offensive line coach at the University of Tennessee. He joined the Vols in the spring of 2016 as an offensive quality control coach, working primarily with the offensive line. On December 9, 2019, Walt Wells was hired as the 15th head coach in program history at Eastern Kentucky. Cardinal Stadium
Cardinal Stadium, formerly known as Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, is a football stadium located in Louisville, Kentucky, United States, on the southern end of the campus of the University of Louisville. Elliott T. Bowers Stadium is a 12,593-seat multi-purpose stadium in Huntsville, Texas. The stadium has been home to the Sam Houston State University Bearkats football since 1986. Homer Bryce Stadium, located in Nacogdoches, Texas, is the home of Stephen F. Austin State University's Lumberjack football and Ladyjack and Lumberjack track and field events. First Security Field at Estes Stadium is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Conway, Arkansas. The 2021 Tarleton State Texans football team represented Tarleton State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Texans played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville, Texas, and were coached by Todd Whitten. Due to the NCAA's transition rules, they were not eligible for the 2021 FCS Playoffs.
