2021 Clemson Tigers Baseball Team
The 2021 Clemson Tigers baseball team are the varsity intercollegiate baseball team that represented Clemson University during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Tigers competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and were led by sixth-year head coach Monte Lee. Clemson played its home games at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. The Tigers finished the season 25–27 and 16–20 in ACC play to finish in fifth place in the Atlantic Division. As the eleventh seed in the ACC tournament they were placed in Pool B with second seed Georgia Tech and seventh seed Louisville. The Tigers lost to Louisville and defeated Georgia Tech. Their 1–1 record was not good enough to advance to the Semifinals and they were not invited to the NCAA tournament. Monte Lee
Monte Wesley Lee (born February 9, 1977) is an American baseball coach, who is the current associate head baseball coach and recruiting coordinator for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He played college baseball for the Charleston Cougars from 1996 to 1999. He then served as the head coach of the College of Charleston Cougars (2009–2015) and the Clemson Tigers (2016–2022). Under Lee, the Cougars reached four NCAA Tournaments, including one NCAA Super Regional. Playing career Lee played four seasons of baseball (1996–1999) at College of Charleston. An outfielder, Lee was a career .333 hitter and had 22 home runs. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. Boshamer Stadium
Cary C. Boshamer Stadium is a baseball stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It is the home of the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team. History The previous home of the Tar Heels was a multi-use venue called Emerson Field, which sat some 2,400 people. The combination baseball/football field was opened in 1916 on the site of the existing athletic field (ca. 1900) and named for a university benefactor, Captain Isaac E. Emerson, best known as the inventor of Bromo-Seltzer. The football team left Emerson for Kenan Memorial Stadium in 1927. Emerson would continue as the home of the baseball team for another 45 seasons. Its site is now occupied by Davis Library. Fluor Field At The West End
Fluor Field at the West End is a 6,700-seat baseball-only stadium in Greenville, South Carolina, that opened on April 6, 2006. Designed by architectural firm DLR Group, it was built as a new home of the Greenville Drive baseball team, the High-A East affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Features Fluor Field nearly replicates the dimensions of Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox. The ballpark has its own "Green Monster" replica, a 30-foot high wall in left field as opposed to the 37-foot one found at Fenway, and contains a manual scoreboard. Every other dimension is to the same specifications as Fenway Park, including "Pesky’s Pole" in right field.
