2021 Chicago Sky Season
The 2021 Chicago Sky season was the franchise's 16th season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). This was their third season under head coach James Wade. In the postseason, the Sky won their first WNBA championship. The offseason was marked by two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker joining the team. The Sky started the season with two wins but followed with a seven-game losing streak through mid-June. However, they proceeded to go on a seven-game winning streak that included back-to-back wins over eventual top seed Connecticut. They entered the mid-season Olympic break with a 10–10 record. After the break, they recorded a 4–3 record in August, including back-to-back road wins in Seattle. WNBA Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association is made up of six teams. From the league's second season in 1998 through 2015, the WNBA operated separate playoff brackets for its Eastern and Western Conferences. Each conference's playoff was divided into two playoff rounds, the Conference Semi-Finals and the Conference Finals, with the Conference Finals winners receiving Conference Championships and advancing to the WNBA Finals to determine the WNBA champion. In the final years of this playoff scheme, all in-conference playoff series were best-of-three. Since 2016, the league has abandoned separate conference playoffs in favor of a single league-wide playoff bracket. 2014 Chicago Sky Season
The 2014 WNBA season is the 9th season for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Coming off the franchise's first ever playoff appearance, the Sky looked to continue their success in the 2014 season. The Sky's offseason included trading Swin Cash to Atlanta, signing free agent forward Jessica Breland, center Sasha Goodlett, but also learning that center Sylvia Fowles would be missing some time due to Arthroscopic surgery of the hip to repair a torn Labrum and Impingement. Although the Sky finished the season with a 15–19 record, they placed 4th in the Eastern Conference and qualified for the playoffs. They defeated the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever in the playoffs and made it to the 2014 WNBA Finals, but lost the series in three games. Brittany Boyd
Brittany Boyd-Jones ( Boyd; born June 11, 1993) is an American basketball free agent in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She previously played for the Chicago Sky. She played college basketball for the California Golden Bears. She was selected by New York in the first round of the 2015 WNBA draft with the ninth overall pick. Boyd grew up in Richmond, California, and attended high school in Berkeley at Berkeley High. As a senior in college, she helped Cal advance to the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Boyd averaged 13.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game for the season, and was a semifinalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year. The Dallas Wings are an American basketball team based in Arlington, Texas. The Wings play in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The 2021 WNBA draft was the WNBA's draft for the 2021 WNBA season. A draft lottery was held on December 4, 2020, and the New York Liberty were awarded the first overall pick once again in the draft. The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams.
