2021 Big East Conference Softball Tournament
The 2021 Big East Conference softball tournament was held at Connecticut Softball Stadium on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut. The tournament was held from May 13 through May 15, 2021 and determined the champion for the Big East Conference for the 2021 NCAA Division I softball season. As the tournament champion, Villanova earned the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament. The semifinals and finals were broadcast on Fox Sports 2. Format and seeding The top four teams from the conference's round-robin regular season qualified for the tournament, and were seeded one through four. They played a double-elimination tournament. Due to COVID-19 protocols, Creighton was unable to participate in the Tournament, resulting in Butler claiming the fourth seed. Connecticut Softball Stadium
Burrill Family Field at Connecticut Softball Stadium is the home field of the Connecticut Huskies softball team of the University of Connecticut. The stadium was located along Jim Calhoun Way, on the university's Storrs, Connecticut campus, adjacent to J. O. Christian Field and across from Morrone Stadium and the Burton Family Football Complex. The field is named for the Burrill Family, five of whom are UConn alums. The Big East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference that competes in NCAA Division I in ten men's sports and twelve women's sports. Headquartered in New York City, the eleven full-member schools are primarily located in Northeast and Midwest metropolitan areas. 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament
The 2021 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 21 through June 10, 2021 as the final part of the 2021 NCAA Division I softball season. 31 teams were awarded automatic bids as champions of their conferences after the Ivy League opted out of the 2021 softball season. The remaining 33 were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee on May 16, 2021. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2021 Women's College World Series at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. The Big East Conference softball tournament (sometimes known simply as the Big East Tournament) is the conference championship tournament in college softball for the Big East Conference. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship, NCAA Division I softball tournament.
