2021 Appalachian State Mountaineers Baseball Team
The 2021 Appalachian State Mountaineers baseball team represented Appalachian State University during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Mountaineers played their home games at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium and were led by fifth-year head coach Kermit Smith. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference. Kermit Smith
Kermit Smith is an American college baseball coach and former player. Smith is the head coach of the Appalachian State Mountaineers baseball team. Playing career Smith attended Pfeiffer University, where he was a member of the Falcons baseball team. Coaching career After a year as an assistant at Belmont Abbey College, Smith was named the head coach of the Crusaders at the age of 23. In 2009, Belmont Abbey advanced to the Division II College World Series where they finished 4th. Smith was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year. In 2009, Smith was named the head coach at Lander University. Smith lead the 2014 Bearcats squad to a school 52–9 season, winning the Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year honors. Lake Norman High School
Lake Norman High School is located in Mooresville, North Carolina. The school is a part of the Iredell-Statesville school system. The name of the school comes from nearby Lake Norman. Lake Norman High School was built to relieve over-crowding at the nearby South Iredell High School. In 2009, Lake Norman High School had the highest graduation rate of North Carolina public non-charter schools with 95% of the senior class receiving a diploma. In June 2012, Lake Norman High School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon Schools Program ''School of Excellence''. Size As of August 2020, Lake Norman has over 1,885 students. Thomas Stadium
Thomas Stadium is a baseball venue in Johnson City, Tennessee, United States. It is home to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers baseball team of the NCAA Division I Southern Conference. Opened in 2012, the facility has a listed capacity of 1,000 spectators. Features of the stadium include an LED video board, a FieldTurf playing surface, stadium lighting, berm seating, concessions, and restrooms. The stadium replaced Howard Johnson Field as the home of East Tennessee State's baseball program. The playing field at Thomas Stadium opened on February 17, 2012, when East Tennessee State defeated Eastern Kentucky 8–3 in front of 327 spectators. Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, South Carolina and the fifth-largest city in the state. The Winthrop Ballpark is a baseball venue in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It is home to the Winthrop Eagles baseball team of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. The venue has a capacity of 1,989 spectators. History Renovations between the 2000 and 2001 season added the Wayne Patrick Press Box, stadium lightning, dugouts, and concessions. In baseball, a utility player is a player who typically does not have the offensive abilities to justify a regular starting role on the team but is capable of playing more than one defensive position. These players are able to give the various starters a rest, or replace a starter due to injury, or play late in a game to provide improved defense when their team is winning. An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field. Standard arrangement of positions In a game of baseball, two teams of nine players take turns playing offensive and defensive roles. Catcher
Catcher is a Baseball positions, position in baseball and softball.
