2020–21 Winthrop Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Winthrop Eagles men's basketball team represented Winthrop University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by 9th-year head coach Pat Kelsey, will play their home games at the Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina as members of the Big South Conference. They finished the season 23-2, 17-1 in Big South Play to finish as regular season champions. They defeated High Point, Longwood, and Campbell to be champions of the Big South tournament. They received the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the first round to Villanova. Previous season The Eagles finished the 2019–20 season 24–10, 15–3 in Big South play to finish as Big South regular season co-champions, alongside Radford. Pat Kelsey
Patrick Kelsey (born May 15, 1975) is an American college basketball coach. He is the current head men's basketball coach at the College of Charleston. Playing career Kelsey played high school basketball at Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, OH. He transferred to Elder High School for his senior year and in 1993 helped lead the team to a Division I state title. Kelsey began his collegiate career as a freshman guard at the University of Wyoming. He transferred to Xavier in 1994 where he played three seasons. Coaching career Kelsey began his career as an assistant coach at Wake Forest University and later Xavier University. During his time as an assistant coach, his teams earned an ACC regular season championship, five NCAA Tournament berths, an NIT berth, and a No. 1 national ranking in two different seasons. 2020 Big South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2020 Big South men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament that ended the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season of the Big South Conference. It was held from March 3 through March 8, 2020 at various campus sites. The Winthrop Eagles received the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after defeating Hampton 76–68 in the championship game. Sites The first round was played at campus sites at the home of the higher seed. The quarterfinals and semifinals were played at the home of regular-season champion and No. 1 seed. Grayson High School is located in Loganville, Georgia and has an enrollment of over 3,100 students. The school pulls students from many areas of southeastern Gwinnett County, mainly Grayson, Loganville, and Lawrenceville. General information Building information Construction on the current Grayson High School building began in August 1998 and the school opened its doors in 2000. The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was a planned single-elimination tournament of 68 teams to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college basketball national champion for the 2019–20 season. The 82nd edition of the tournament would have begun on March 17, 2020, and concluded with the championship game on April 6 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
