2020–21 San Diego State Aztecs Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball team represented San Diego State University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Aztecs, led by fourth-year head coach Brian Dutcher, played their home games at Viejas Arena as members in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs finished the season 23–5, 14–3 in Mountain West play to win the regular season championship. In the Mountain West tournament, they defeated Wyoming, Nevada, and Utah State to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 6 seed in the Midwest region. There they lost in the first round to Syracuse. Brian Dutcher
Brian James Dutcher (born October 30, 1959) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball team at San Diego State University (SDSU). He was an assistant under head coach Steve Fisher (basketball), Steve Fisher with the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball, Michigan Wolverines and San Diego State, succeeding Fisher as the Aztecs' head coach upon his retirement in 2017. 2019–20 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 5, 2019. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season concluded prematurely on March 12, 2020. The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was scheduled to end at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 6, 2020, but was ultimately canceled. All other postseason tournaments were canceled as well. Practices officially began in late September. On March 12, 2020, the NCAA announced that all remaining winter and spring championships for both men's and women's sports were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lamont Butler Jr. (born June 9, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the Kentucky Wildcats of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was a planned single-elimination tournament of 68 teams to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college basketball national champion for the 2019–20 season. The 82nd edition of the tournament would have begun on March 17, 2020, and concluded with the championship game on April 6 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. 2020 Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2020 Mountain West Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Mountain West Conference. It was held from March 4–7, 2020 at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Utah State upset heavily favored San Diego State to earn the Mountain West's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament Seeds All 11 MW schools were eligible to participate in the tournament.
