The 2020–21 season was the 117th season in the existence of Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the club's 42nd consecutive season in the top flight of Football in Germany, German football. Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH, also known as Bayer 04 Leverkusen (), Bayer Leverkusen, or simply Leverkusen, is a professional football club based in Leverkusen in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Julian Jakob Baumgartlinger (born 2 January 1988) is an Austrian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for German club FC Augsburg and the Austria national team. Career Growing up in the Austrian market town of Mattsee, Baumgartlinger began playing football at local USC Mattsee at age five.
