The 2020 Oceania Cup was to be the second edition of the Oceania Cup. The competition was scheduled to begin in June and conclude in November, but has since been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition would have split six competing nations into two tiered pools. Pool A would have consisted of , , and , who earned promotion by winning Pool B in 2019, and replaced , who were scheduled to tour the Northern Hemisphere. The were to join Pool B for the first time, alongside and . Fixtures A schedule was announced in February, though venues and dates were unconfirmed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 20 March, it was announced that the June doubleheader had been postponed. In May, the NRL announced that the 2020 NRL Grand Final would be played on 25 October, which further delayed the Oceania Cup. It was eventually cancelled on 4 September 2020. 2019 Oceania Cup (rugby League)
The 2019 Oceania Cup was the inaugural edition of the Oceania Cup. Contested by six teams, the competition began in June and concluded in November. The competition was announced at the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) congress in November 2018. The draw was released in March and breaks the six teams into two separate pools with promotion and relegation to exist in what is to become an annual tournament. Group A will comprise the top three ranked Pacific nations in , and while Group B will comprise , and . The winner of Pool A will win the Oceania Cup while the winner of Pool B will win the Oceania Shield and be promoted to Pool A in the next edition in place of Australia, who were due to travel to Europe for their first Kangaroos tour since 2003. 2023 Pacific Rugby League Championship
The 2023 Rugby League Pacific Championships was the second edition of the Rugby League Pacific Championship and the first under its current name (having previously been called the Oceania Cup in 2019). The championship included a collection of international rugby league tournaments to be played from October to November 2023 between nations located in the Pacific region. The Pacific Rugby League Championship is a rugby league tournament for national teams in Oceania. Its inaugural tournament was in 2019. Of the seven Oceanian team, six compete in two divisions of three, while a seventh tours a European Rugby League nation. History The tournament was created in 2019 with a two tiered format. The top tier (cup) consisted of Australia, New Zealand and Tonga and the second tier (shield) consisted of Fiji, Samoa and Papua New Guinea. The top team in the cup would be crowned champions while the top team in the shield would be promoted. The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the sport of rugby league in both the northern and southern hemispheres with the two major league competitions suspended for periods and numerous other leagues and cup competitions cancelled or abandoned. The 2020 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 2020 National Rugby League season held at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on October 25. A † denotes a recognised, but unofficial match that did not contribute to the IRL World Rankings. Many fixtures scheduled were cancelled or rescheduled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
