2020 Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Soccer Team
The 2020 Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer team represented Marshall University during the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 42nd season of the university fielding a men's varsity soccer program. The Thundering Herd, led by fourth-year head coach Chris Grassie, played their home games at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex as members of Conference USA (C-USA). The 2020 NCAA season was impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, COVID-19 pandemic., with Conference USA announcing the move of the men's soccer season from the fall to the following spring. Chris Grassie
Chris Grassie (born 21 September 1978) is an English football coach who is currently the head coach of the Marshall University men's soccer team. During his tenure as coach of the Herd, he led the program to 3 Conference USA trophies, 1 Sun Belt Conference trophy, and the 2020 NCAA National Championship. Playing career As a player at Alderson Broaddus, Grassie was named to the all-conference team multiple times and was a team captain. He majored in political science and history. Grassie played in England from 2002 to 2003 with Northwich Victoria F.C. Coaching career Grassie began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia. The East Tennessee State Buccaneers men's soccer team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, United States. The team is a member of the Southern Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. ETSU's first men's soccer team was fielded in 2008. 2020 West Virginia Mountaineers Men's Soccer Team
The West Virginia Mountaineers men's soccer team is the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I soccer team of West Virginia University (WVU). Beginning with the 2012 season, the team was an affiliate member of the Mid-American Conference because WVU is the only school in its primary conference, the Big 12 Conference, that has a varsity men's soccer team. The Kentucky Wildcats men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Kentucky (UK). Since the Southeastern Conference (SEC) does not sponsor men's soccer (minimum four schools needed to sponsor a sport, only two offer it), the team has been associate members of other conferences. From 1995 to 2004, it was a member of the Mid-American Conference. In 2005, UK moved men's soccer to Conference USA, creating a rivalry with fellow new member South Carolina, which had rejoined the reunified conference that season. The FIU Panthers men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Florida International University. As of the upcoming 2022 season, the team is a member of the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference (The American). History FIU started their soccer program in 1972.
