2020 La Tropicale Amissa Bongo
The 2020 La Tropicale Amissa Bongo was a road cycling stage race that took place in Gabon and Cameroon between 20 and 26 January 2020. The race was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2020 UCI Africa Tour, and was the 15th edition of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo. Teams Fifteen teams were invited to the race, of which one was a UCI WorldTeam, two were UCI Professional Continental teams, four were UCI Continental teams, and eight were national teams. Each team entered six riders into the race for a total of 90 riders, of which 72 finished the race. 2020 UCI Africa Tour
The 2020 UCI Africa Tour was the 16th season of the UCI Africa Tour. The season began on 25 October 2019 with the Tour du Faso and ended on 1 March 2020. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Africa Tour cycling jersey. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers: the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Ndjolé
Ndjolé is the capital town in the Abanga-Bigne Department in Gabon, lying northeast of Lambaréné on the Ogooué River, the N2 road (Gabon), N2 road and the Trans-Gabon Railway. It is known as a base for logging and as a transport hub. Ndjolé is the last city that can be reached by barge, barge traffic traveling up the Ogooué River. Oyem
Oyem is the capital of Woleu-Ntem province in northern Gabon, lying on the N2 road and the River Ntem. Geography The town lies on a plateau at an elevation of about . It is the administrative and transport center for the surrounding agricultural area. Oyem is located 411 kilometers away from the national capital, Libreville. History Oyem is named after a large tree that grows around the town. In the 1990s, there were several female Peace Corps officers raped and murdered in Gabon, stirring controversy over the safety of its locations. The town was sieged by rabid dogs in March 2004, who killed three of five residents infected. The town council was forced to shoot 50 strays. In October 2004, Oyem was affected by water and power cuts. In December of that year, it was severely affected by a rare typhoid fever outbreak which spread across northern Gabon.
