2020 Kashima Antlers Season
The 2020 season is Kashima Antlers's 28th consecutive season in the J1 League, the top flight of Japanese football, since the introduction of professional football in 1993. The club finished the 2019 J1 League in third place, securing a play-off spot in the 2020 AFC Champions League. In addition to these competitions, they also competed in the Emperor's Cup and J.League Cup. Antônio Carlos Zago (born 18 May 1969), sometimes known as just Antônio Carlos or simply Zago, is a Brazilian professional football manager and former player. Club career Early career Born in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, also having Italian origins, Zago moved to Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul as a teenager, and began his senior career with local side Ubiratan, as a forward and being known as Tonhão. In 1988, after finishing the Campeonato Sul-Mato-Grossense as a starter as Ubiratan finished in the second position, he agreed to join São Paulo, with five players moving in the opposite direction. Daiki Sugioka
is a Japanese footballer who plays as a left back for Shonan Bellmare and the Japan national team. Club career Shonan Bellmare Sugioka joined Shonan Bellmare in 2017 straight from Funabashi Municipal High School, aged 17 and took the number 29 shirt. He was immediately involved in the first XI and was handed his J2 League debut by Cho Kwi-jae on 26 February 2017, a 1-0 win over Mito Hollyhock where Sugioka played the full 90 minutes. In his first home game, Sugioka scored his first professional goal in a 3-1 win over Thespakusatsu Gunma, after running past a number of defenders and scoring with a fine left-footed finish. Hitoshi Sogahata
is a Japanese former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Kashima Antlers and the Japan national team. Club career Sogahata was born in Kashima on August 2, 1979. He joined J1 League club Kashima Antlers based in his local from youth team in 1998. He debuted against Avispa Fukuoka on May 8, 1999 and played several matches until 2000. Although he could not play many matches behind Japan national team player Daijiro Takakuwa until 2000, Sogahata played in semifinals and final at 2000 J.League Cup and Antlers won the champions. Katsuya Nagato
is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a left back for Yokohama F. Marinos in the J1 League. Youth career Starting out as a forward for his elementary school, Nagato was advised by his junior high school manager to convert to a left-back – the position he still currently plays. Ryuji Izumi
is a Japanese footballer who plays as a winger for club Nagoya Grampus. Youth career Ichiritsu Funabashi High School Representing Ichiritsu Funabashi High School, Izumi captained the side that won the 2011 All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, scoring two goals in the final itself and was voted the MVP of the tournament.
