2020 Harvest Grand Prix
The 2020 Harvest Grand Prix was IndyCar Series event scheduled October 2-3, 2020. It made up the twelfth and thirteenth and penultimate rounds of the series' 2020 season. Rinus VeeKay won pole for the first race with Josef Newgarden taking victory. Will Power led every lap from pole position to take victory in the second race. Background As a result of races cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, the IndyCar Series announced on April 6, 2020 that a third trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway would be added to the 2020 season as a support race for the Intercontinental GT Challenge's Indianapolis 8 Hours. Grand Prix Of Indianapolis
The IndyCar Series hosts two races a year on the combined road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The first, the GMR Grand Prix is held in early May with an inaugural running in 2014. The second race, the Gallagher Grand Prix is held in the summer as a support race for the NASCAR Cup Series Verizon 200 at the Brickyard and was first run in 2020. The race is run on a newer, modified layout of the circuit previously used for the Formula One United States Grand Prix, and later the Moto GP motorcycle event. The IndyCar Series, currently known as the NTT IndyCar Series under sponsorship, is the highest class of regional North American open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars in the United States, which has been conducted under the auspices of various sanctioning bodies since 1920 after two initial attempts in 1905 and 1916. Hélio Castroneves
Hélio Castroneves (; born Hélio Alves de Castro Neves; 10 May 1975) is a Brazilian auto racing driver. He has won the Indianapolis 500 a record-equalling four times: in 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2021. He won the 2021 24 Hours of Daytona with Wayne Taylor Racing and the 2022 24 Hours of Daytona with Meyer Shank Racing, and was runner-up in the IndyCar Series drivers' championship in 2002, 2008, 2013, and 2014. The IndyCar Series operation of McLaren Racing competes under the banner of Arrow McLaren SP. This entry is based in Indianapolis and was founded by former driver Sam Schmidt as Sam Schmidt Motorsports. Fellow ex-driver Davey Hamilton joined as co-owner from 2011–2012 to form Schmidt Hamilton Motorsports. Canadian businessman Ric Peterson joined in 2013 to form Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. Oliver Clark Askew (born December 12, 1996) is an American-Swedish race car driver who races under the American flag. He previously competed in the Formula E World Championship for Avalanche Andretti Formula E. He is the 2019 Indy Lights champion. Indianapolis 500 Traditions
Due to the longevity of the Indianapolis 500, numerous traditions surrounding the race have developed over the years. Traditions include procedures for the running of the race, scheduling, and pre-race and post-race festivities. For many fans, these traditions are an important aspect of the race, and they have often reacted quite negatively when the traditions are changed or broken. Harvest Auto Racing Classic
The Harvest Auto Racing Classic was a series of three automobile races held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday September 9, 1916. The meet, held four months after the 1916 Indianapolis 500, featured a 20-mile race, a 50-mile race, and a 100-mile race. The main event, a 100-mile Championship Car race, paid points towards the 1916 AAA National Championship. Johnny Aitken won all three races, two of which had a margin of victory of less than a car length. The event was a unique footnote in the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Between 1911 and 1993, the Harvest Auto Racing Classic was the only time an official race other than the Indianapolis 500 was contested at the track. 2020 Indianapolis 8 Hours
The 2020 Indianapolis 8 Hours was an endurance race held on 4 October 2020 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, in Indiana, United States. The event was open to cars in GT classes, namely GT3 and GT4. It was the inaugural running of the Indianapolis 8 Hour, replacing the previous American leg of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the California 8 Hours held at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. It was the second leg of the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge and the sixth and final round of the 2020 GT World Challenge America. The GT World Challenge America results would be determined by the race results after three hours instead of the full eight hours. 22 cars started the race, 12 GT3 entries and 10 GT4 entries.
