2020 Clemson Tigers Men's Soccer Team
The 2020 Clemson Tigers men's soccer team represented Clemson University during the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Tigers were led by head coach Mike Noonan, in his eleventh season. They played home games at Riggs Field. This was the team's 60th season playing organized men's college soccer and their 33rd playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The teams' 2020 season was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which curtailed the fall season and caused the NCAA Tournament to be played in spring 2021. The ACC was one of the only two conferences in men's soccer to play in the fall of 2020. The ACC also held a mini-season during the spring of 2021. The Tigers finished the fall season 8–2–1 and 3–2–1 in ACC play to finish in third place in the North Division. Mike Noonan
Michael Noonan (June 30, 1961) is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the American Indoor Soccer Association and is currently the head coach of the Clemson University men's soccer team. Playing career Noonan attended Middlebury College, playing on the men's soccer team from 1979 to 1982. He was a 1981 and 1982 Division III NCAA First Team All American. Noonan played for the Louisville Thunder in the American Indoor Soccer Association. In 1986, he signed with the Fort Wayne Flames where he spent two seasons. In 2017, Noonan was inducted into the Middlebury College Athletics Hall of Fame for his playing time there. Coaching career In 1989, Noonan was hired as head coach of the Wheaton College men's soccer team. The team had a 4–11–0 record his first season, but he took them to a 12–5–1 record his second season. The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As of the upcoming 2022 season, the team is a member of the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference (The American). The team plays their home games at Transamerica Field in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2011, the team reached the championship of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, for the first time in program history. Clifton, Virginia
Clifton is an incorporated town located in southwestern Fairfax County, Virginia, United States, with a population of 282 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 185 at the 2000 census. Incorporated by the General Assembly on March 9, 1902, Clifton is one of only three towns in the county, the other two being the much more populous Vienna and Herndon. Clifton's history begins pre-colonially, when the area was used as hunting grounds by the local Dogue Native American tribe. Malick Mbaye (born 24 November 1996) is a Senegalese professional footballer who most recently played as a defender for North Carolina FC in USL League One. Career Amateur Mbaye played for Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy in Florida. In 2017, he played for SIMA Águilas of the Premier Development League, scoring four goals in 12 games. In 2019, Mbaye played with Greenville FC of the National Premier Soccer League. College Mbaye played college soccer at Clemson University from 2016 and 2019. Tanner Dieterich (born May 4, 1998) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder. Career Youth After time with various youth teams in his native Tennessee, Dieterich spent time with both the Real Salt Lake academy in Arizona, as well as the IMG Academy in Florida. College and amateur Dieterich played four years of college soccer at Clemson University between 2016 and 2019, making 75 appearances, scoring 9 goals and tallying 13 assists. The 2020 MLS SuperDraft was the 21st edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The 2020 SuperDraft was the first SuperDraft held exclusively via conference call and web streaming. The first two rounds of the 2020 SuperDraft were held on January 9, 2020 while rounds three and four were held on January 13, 2020.
