2020 Arizona's 1st Congressional District Election
The 2020 United States House of Representatives elections in Arizona was held on November 3, 2020, to elect the nine U.S. representatives from the state of Arizona, one from each of the state's nine congressional districts. The elections coincided with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections. This election was the first time since 1990 in which no third-party candidates appeared on the ballot in the House of Representatives elections. Arizona was notable in 2020 for being one of two states, the other being North Carolina, in which the party receiving the majority of votes held a minority of congressional seats. Arizona's 4th Congressional District
Arizona's 4th congressional district is a congressional district located in the U.S. state of Arizona. It is currently represented by Republican Paul Gosar, who lives outside the district in Flagstaff. It stretches from the periphery of Phoenix to contain much of the rural western and northwestern portion of the state. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+22, it is the most Republican district in Arizona. The current 4th was created after the 2010 census from portions of the old 1st, 2nd, and 5th districts. It is the only district that is not a geographic or demographic successor to one of the districts in the 2003–2013 map. Oro Valley, incorporated in 1974, is a suburban town located north of Tucson, Arizona, United States, in Pima County. According to the 2020 census, the population of the town is 47,070, an increase from 29,700 in 2000. Tom O'Halleran
Thomas Charles O'Halleran (; born January 24, 1946) is an American politician serving as the United States House of Representatives, U.S. representative for since 2017. Beginning his political career as a Republican Party (United States), Republican, he was the Arizona Senate, Arizona state senator from the 1st district from 2007 to 2009. Arizona's 9th Congressional District
Arizona's 9th congressional district was created as a result of the 2010 Census. The first candidates ran in the 2012 House elections, and the first representative was seated for the 113th Congress in 2013. Formerly located in the Phoenix area, the 9th district has been in western Arizona since 2023. Paul Gosar, who previously represented the 1st and 4th districts, was elected to the seat in 2022 following redistricting. He was sworn in on January 3, 2023. Arizona's 8th Congressional District
Arizona's 8th congressional district is a congressional district located in the U.S. state of Arizona. It includes many of the suburbs north and west of Phoenix, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The district includes several high-income retirement communities, including Sun City West. After redistricting for the 2012 general election, the new 8th district encompasses most of the Maricopa County portion of the old 2nd district, while most of the former 8th district became the 2nd congressional district. It is the geographic and demographic successor of the old 2nd; while the 4th district contains most of the old 2nd's land, more than 92 percent of the old 2nd's constituents were drawn into the 8th.
