2019–20 Women's England Hockey League Season
The 2019–20 Women's England Hockey League season (sponsored by Investec) is the 2019–20 season of England's field hockey league structure. The season started on 14 September 2019 and was due to end in April 2020 but finished on 5 September 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The defending champions are Surbiton. Conference North champions Loughborough Students and Conference East champions Hampstead & Westminster replaced the relegated Slough and Canterbury respectively. Surbiton were declared champions following the end of the regular season because the playoffs were curtailed on 17 March 2020 due to COVID-19. Beeston Hockey Club won the delayed Championship Cup on 5 September 2020, defeating the defending champions Clifton Robinsons Hockey Club 3–2 in the final. Women's England Hockey League
The Women's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by England Hockey that features women's teams from England. From 2011-2020 it was sponsored by Investec and was referred to as the Investec Women's Hockey League. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of 12 teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. At the end of the season there are a series of play-offs that decide which teams are promoted and relegated and which team finish as champions. Clifton Hockey Club
Clifton Robinsons Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol. It was formed by the merging of Clifton Ladies Hockey Club and Robinsons Hockey Club. The clubs had shared close links for many years, sharing pitches, umpires, coaches and annual dinners and in summer 2016 joined to form a single club. 2019–20 Men's Hockey League Season
The 2019–20 Men's England Hockey League season was the 2019–20 season of England's field hockey league structure. The season started on 14 September 2019 and was due to end in March 2020, but finished on 12 September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The defending champions were Hampstead and Westminster. Old Georgians, winners of the Hockey League Conference East replaced the relegated Sevenoaks. On 17 March 2020, the play-offs were suspended due to COVID. The play-offs were officially cancelled on 28 April 2020 and Surbiton were crowned champions. Beeston Hockey Club won the delayed Championship Cup on 12 September 2020, defeating Bowdon and Fareham respectively. Bowdon Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, England. The hockey club was established in 1886 but the Bowdon Club which hosts the team was formed in 1856. The COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom is a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
