2019–20 Tranmere Rovers F.C. Season
The 2019–20 season was Tranmere Rovers' 136th season of existence and their first back in EFL League One in five years after successive promotions from the 2017–18 National League and the 2018–19 EFL League Two. Along with competing in League One, the club participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. Association Football Positions
In the sport of association football, each of the 11 players on a team is assigned to a particular position on the field of play. A team is made up of one goalkeeper and ten outfield players who fill various defensive, midfield, and attacking positions depending on the formation deployed. These positions describe both the player's main role and their area of operation on the pitch. In the early development of the game, formations were much more offensively aggressive, with the 1–2–7 being prominent in the late 1800s. Calum Jack Woods (born 5 February 1987) is an English professional footballer who plays as a fullback for Bala Town. Woods previously spent five seasons with Scottish club Dunfermline Athletic before returning to English football with Huddersfield Town, Preston North End, Bradford City and Tranmere Rovers. Crewe () is a railway town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. George Edward Ray (born 13 October 1993) is a former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is a former Wales under-21 international. Ray started his professional career at Crewe Alexandra and made his first-team debut in the 2013 Football League Trophy final, becoming the first player to make his professional debut in a cup final held at Wembley. Darren Michael Potter (born 21 December 1984) is a football coach and former player who is a coach at club Milton Keynes Dons. A midfielder, he made 502 league and cup appearances in a 16-year career in the Premier League and English Football League. Born in England, he won five caps for the Republic of Ireland. Stefan Steve Payne (born 10 August 1991) is an English footballer who plays as a forward for club Punjab United. Sidney Raymond Kenneth Nelson (born 1 January 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Isthmian League Premier Division club Chatham Town.
