2019–20 Pittsburgh Panthers Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Pittsburgh during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers were led by second-year head coach Jeff Capel and played their home games at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Panthers finished the season 16–17, and 6–14 in ACC play. They defeated to Wake Forest in the first round of the ACC tournament before losing to NC State in the second round. The tournament was cancelled before the Quarterfinals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The NCAA tournament and NIT were also cancelled due to the pandemic. Previous season The Panthers finished the 2018–19 season 14–19 overall and 3–15 in ACC play, finishing fourteenth in the conference. Jeff Capel III
Felton Jeffrey Capel III (born February 12, 1975) is an American college basketball coach and former player. He is currently the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh's Panthers men's basketball team. He played for Duke University and was a head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Oklahoma. Youth Capel is from a basketball family. His father was the late basketball coach Jeff Capel II, former assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats and former head coach at Old Dominion University, and his younger brother Jason played basketball at Duke's biggest rival, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was the head basketball coach at Appalachian State University. The Weber State Wildcats team is the basketball team representing Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. The program is classified in the NCAA Division I, and is a member of the Big Sky Conference. Hartford Hawks Men's Basketball
The Hartford Hawks men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut. The school's team currently competes as an Independent. In 2008, Hartford made the America East tournament championship game falling to UMBC 65–82. In 2021, they defeated UMass Lowell, 64–50, to make their first NCAA Division I Tournament. On May 6, 2021, the University of Hartford Board of Regents voted to drop its athletic department to Division III. The drop is set to take place no later than September 1, 2025. Malik Ellison (born August 17, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League.
