2019–20 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Women's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team represented Georgia Institute of Technology during the 2019-20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. They were led by first-year head coach Nell Fortner and played their home games at Hank McCamish Pavilion as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Yellow Jackets finished the season 20–11 and 10–8 in ACC play to finish in seventh place. As the seventh seed in the ACC tournament, they defeated Pittsburgh in the Second Round before losing to eventual champion NC State in Quarterfinals. The NCAA tournament and WNIT were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Previous season They finished the 2018–19 season 17–13, 7–9 in ACC play to finish in ninth place. Nell Fortner
Nell Fortner (born March 3, 1959) is the current women's college basketball coach at Georgia Tech. She is most well known for leading the 2000 Olympics team to a gold medal. She has received numerous awards including the 1997 National Coach of the Year, the 2000 USA Basketball Coach of the Year and the 2008 SEC Coach of the Year. In April 2018, she was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Fortner served as a TV analyst for ESPN from 2001-2004 before returning as the head women's basketball coach at Auburn University. In 2013, she returned to ESPN as a TV analyst. In 2019, she was hired as the women's basketball coach at Georgia Tech.
