The 2019–20 season was Chelsea Women's 28th competitive season and 10th consecutive season in the FA Women's Super League, the top flight of English women's football. Karen Julia Carney (born 1 August 1987) is an English sports journalist and former professional footballer who played as a winger and midfielder. Carney has been a regular broadcaster for live football on Sky Sports and Amazon Prime, including Women's Super League and men's Premier League matches since 2019. Rut Hedvig Lindahl (born 29 April 1983) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Swedish Damallsvenskan club Djurgården and the Sweden national team. Jonna Ann-Charlotte Andersson (born 2 January 1993) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Swedish club Hammarby IF and the Sweden women's national football team. The team is former European, World and Olympic champions and thus one of the most successful national teams. The team has had less success since the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. Maren Nævdal Mjelde (born 6 November 1989) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder for Chelsea and captains the Norway national team. She previously played for Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC of the Swedish Damallsvenskan, Turbine Potsdam of the Frauen-Bundesliga and both Arna-Bjørnar and Avaldsnes IL of the Norwegen Toppserien. Maria Thorisdottir ( is, Maria Þórisdóttir) (born 5 June 1993) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Manchester United of the English Women's Super League and the Norway national team. 2018 Ballon D'Or
The 2018 Ballon d'Or was the 63rd annual award ceremony recognising the best footballer in the world for 2018. The winners were announced on 3 December 2018, and for the first time in its history, the Ballon d'Or Féminin and Kopa Trophy were awarded to the best female footballer and male under-21 footballer, respectively. Luka Modrić, who was integral to Croatia's surprise journey to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final, was awarded the Ballon d'Or.
