The 2019 Women's EuroHockey Junior Championship II was the 11th edition of the Women's EuroHockey Junior Championship II, the second level of the women's European under-21 field hockey championships organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held from 14 to 20 July 2019 in Alanya, Turkey. Scotland won their second EuroHockey Junior Championship II title and were promoted to the 2022 Women's EuroHockey Junior Championship together with Wales. Qualified teams The participating teams have qualified based on their final ranking from the 2017 competition. Alanya
Alanya (; ), formerly Alaiye, is a beach resort city and a district of Antalya Province on the southern coast of Turkey, in the country's Mediterranean Region, east of the city of Antalya. 2019 Women's EuroHockey Championship II
The 2019 Women's EuroHockey Championship II was the eighth edition of the Women's EuroHockey Championship II, the second level of the European field hockey championships organized by the EHF. It was held from the 4th until the 10th of August 2019 at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre in Glasgow, Scotland. The tournament also served as a direct qualifier for the 2021 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship, with the winner, Scotland, and runner-up, Italy, qualifying. Qualified teams The following eight teams, shown with pre-tournament world rankings, competed in the tournament. Format The eight teams were split into two groups of four teams. The top two teams advanced to the semi-finals to determine the winner in a knockout system. The bottom two teams played in a new group with the teams they did not play against in the group stage. Penalty Shoot-out (field Hockey)
A penalty shootout is a method used in field hockey to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a tied game. Two methods have been used: the original penalty stroke competition is a best-of-five penalty strokes with sudden death if scores were level after five strokes. An alternate penalty shoot-out competition was introduced at major tournaments in 2011. Sometimes known as a penalty shuffle, the method is similar to penalty shots in ice hockey and consists of one-on-ones between an attacking player and a goalkeeper.
