2019 Washington Mystics Season
The 2019 WNBA season was the 22nd for the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association. The season ended with the Mystics winning their first WNBA Championship. The Mystics began playing at the St. Elizabeths East Entertainment and Sports Arena in the 2019 season. The arena holds a maximum of 4,200 spectators per game. They began the season on May 25, 2019 versus the Connecticut Sun. On August 31, with a victory over the Dallas Wings, the Mystics set a franchise record for wins at 23. Mike Thibault
Michael Francis Thibault (born September 28, 1950) is an American basketball head coach, formerly of the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA, and now of the Washington Mystics. In 2013, Thibault became the WNBA's all time most successful coach with 212 victories. Career Upon his graduation from Saint Martin's University in 1979, Thibault entered into the employ of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association, for whom he worked first as a scout and, after 1980, as director of scouting and as an assistant coach; during Thibault's tenure, the Lakers twice won the league championship. The NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team represents North Carolina State University in NCAA Division I women's basketball. History The early years (1974–1981) The women's basketball team at NC State had its beginnings in 1974. Under first head coach Robert "Peanut" Doak, North Carolina State won the first game it played 57–45 over the Virginia Cavaliers on December 7, 1974, en route to an 11–4 final record. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (born May 18, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Israeli team Maccabi Bnot Ashdod, and the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 WNBA draft. She is one of Western Pennsylvania's most decorated women's athletes in the region's history. On April 15, 2020, the Washington Mystics traded Walker-Kimbrough to the New York Liberty in a deal that sent 2012 WNBA Most Valuable Player Tina Charles to Washington. 2019 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2019 WNBA season was the 12th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. The team began its season on May 24, 2019 against the Dallas Wings and concluded the season on September 8 against the New York Liberty. On December 13, 2018 the Atlanta Dream announced that they would return to State Farm Arena, formerly Philips Arena, after playing the previous two seasons at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion while State Farm Arena underwent a $192.5 million renovation. The Dream endured a season without star Angel McCoughtry, who missed time with a knee ligament injury sustained in 2018. The Dream started slowly only winning 2 games of their first ten. Emma Meesseman
Emma Meesseman (born 13 May 1993) is a Belgian professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe of the EuroLeague Women and the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). After playing basketball in Belgium, Meesseman was drafted by the Washington Mystics with the 19th overall pick in the second round of the 2013 WNBA draft. 2019 Minnesota Lynx Season
The 2019 WNBA season of the Minnesota Lynx will be their 21st season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Lynx finished the 2018 season with a record of 18–16, finishing fourth in the Western Conference and seventh overall in the league, while qualifying for the playoffs, before ultimately being beat by Los Angeles in the first Round of the 2018 WNBA Playoffs.
