2019 Oceania Badminton Championships
The XIV 2019 Oceania Badminton Championships was the continental badminton championships in Oceania sanctioned by the Badminton Oceania, and Badminton World Federation. This championship was organized by Badminton Victoria, and was the 14th edition of the Oceania Badminton Championships. It was held in Melbourne, Australia from 11 to 14 February 2019. Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre
Melbourne Sports Centres - MSAC is an international sporting venue located in Albert Park, Victoria, Australia. The centre was opened on 24 July 1997 at a construction cost of A$65 million. The cost was funded by the State Government of Victoria and the City of Port Phillip. The centre has hosted international events including the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 World Aquatics Championships. The centre has several swimming pools and international standard diving facilities. There is a large multi-purpose sports hall used for sports such as badminton, basketball, table tennis and volleyball, and also squash courts and a gym. Gronya Somerville (born 10 May 1995) is an Australian badminton player specializing in doubles. She has won nine Oceania Championships titles, six in the women's doubles and three in the mixed doubles. Personal life Somerville, born to an Australian mother of Anglo-Celtic origin and a Chinese father, became famous when it was revealed that she is the descendant of a prominent Qing dynasty political reformer, Kang Youwei. She is studying exercise science at Victoria University. Setyana Daniella Florensia Mapasa (born 15 August 1995) is an Indonesian-born Australian badminton player. Mapasa won a silver medal at the 2013 BWF World Junior Championships mixed team when she represented Indonesia. She officially became an Australian citizen in 2014. She was selected to join the national team compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. She was four times women's doubles Oceania champions from 2017 to 2020 with her partner Gronya Somerville, also two times champion in the mixed doubles event in 2017 and 2018 alongside Sawan Serasinghe. Jacob Schueler (November 20, 1835 - April 15, 1918) was a German-American businessman and confectionary owner, best known for co-founding the Golden Brewery, today known as Coors Brewing Company in 1873. Early life and education Jacob Schueler was born ''Jakob Schüler'' on November 20, 1835 in Kiedrich, Hesse, Prussia to Peter and Maria Anna (née Roos) Schüler. He was raised in a Catholic family and emigrated to America aged 15 in 1850 with the trade of baker. Career He arrived in Denver, Colorado as one of the Pikes Peakers in 1861. Raymond Tam (born 20 October 1986) is an Australian badminton player and is currently top of the Badminton Australia men's doubles rankings. Tam was born in Hong Kong, and immigrated to Australia with his father when he was 3 years old. He competed for Australia at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
