The 2019 Maui Invitational Tournament was an early-season college basketball tournament played for the 36th time. The tournament began in 1984, and was part of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Championship Round was played at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii from November 25 to 27, 2019. Due to COVID-19 concerns in 2020 and 2021, the tournament did not return to Maui until 2022. 2019–20 UCLA Bruins Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team represented the University of California, Los Angeles, during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I season. The Bruins were led by first-year head coach Mick Cronin and played their home games at Pauley Pavilion as members in the Pac-12 Conference. UCLA finished the season with a 19–12 record. After starting slowly at 8–9, they went 11–3 and finished second in the Pac-12 at 12–6. The 2019–20 Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team represented Michigan State University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans were led by 25th-year head coach Tom Izzo and play their home games at Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan as members of the Big Ten Conference. With a win against Ohio State on March 8, 2020, the Spartans earned a share of their third straight Big Ten regular season championship. The 2019–20 Georgia bulldogs basketball team represented the University of Georgia during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team's head coach was Tom Crean, in his second year at Georgia. They played their home games at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia as members of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 16–16, 5–13 in SEC play to finish in 13th place. They defeated Ole Miss in the first round of the SEC tournament and were set to take on Florida in the second round. 2019–20 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 5, 2019. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season concluded prematurely on March 12, 2020. The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was scheduled to end in Atlanta on April 6, 2020, but was ultimately canceled. All other postseason tournaments were canceled as well. Practices officially began in late September. On March 12, 2020, the NCAA announced that all remaining winter and spring championships for both men's and women's sports were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Devon Durrell Dotson (born August 2, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. High school career Dotson attended Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, along with Grant Williams and Joshua Howard, graduating in 2018. During his senior year of high school, Dotson averaged 28.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, leading the school to its sixth conference title. The Lahaina Civic Center is a sports, convention and entertainment complex located at Ka'a'ahi Street and Honoapi'ilani Highway in Lahaina, Hawaii, on the island of Maui. Udoka Timothy Azubuike (; born September 17, 1999) is a Nigerian-American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
