2019 Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Soccer Team
The 2019 Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer team represented Marshall University during the 2019 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It is the 41st season of the university fielding a men's varsity soccer program. The Thundering Herd, led by third-year head coach Chris Grassie, played their home games at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex as members of Conference USA. The 2019 season proved to be the program's most successful season at the time. Marshall finished as the Conference USA men's soccer tournament and regular season champions making their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Marshall also was ranked in the Top 25 for the first time since 2001. Chris Grassie
Chris Grassie (born 21 September 1978) is an English football coach who is currently the head coach of the Marshall University men's soccer team. During his tenure as coach of the Herd, he led the program to 3 Conference USA trophies, 1 Sun Belt Conference trophy, and the 2020 NCAA National Championship. Playing career As a player at Alderson Broaddus, Grassie was named to the all-conference team multiple times and was a team captain. He majored in political science and history. Grassie played in England from 2002 to 2003 with Northwich Victoria F.C. Coaching career Grassie began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia. After one season, he became a graduate assistant at Marshall University under coach Bob Gray from 2004-2006. 2019 Akron Zips Men's Soccer Team
The Akron Zips men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Akron. The team is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Mid-American Conference through the 2022 season, after which it will join the Big East Conference as a single-sport member. 2019 South Carolina Gamecocks Men's Soccer Team
The South Carolina Gamecocks men's soccer team represents the University of South Carolina and, as of the upcoming 2022 college soccer season, competes in the Sun Belt Conference. The team is coached by Tony Annan, who succeeded Mark Berson as head coach after the 2020 season. The East Tennessee State Buccaneers men's soccer team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, United States.
