2019 Georgetown Hoyas Men's Soccer Team
The 2019 Georgetown Hoyas men's soccer team represented the Georgetown University during the 2019 NCAA Division I men's soccer season and the 2019 Big East Conference men's soccer season. The regular season began on August 30 and concluded on November 6. It was the program's 68th season fielding a men's varsity soccer team, and their 24th season in the Big East Conference. The 2019 season was Brian Wiese's 14th year as head coach for the program. The Hoyas concluded their season with their first national championship in program history, defeating top-seeded Virginia in the NCAA Tournament. Brian Wiese
Brian Wiese is the head men's soccer coach at Georgetown. He has coached for two seasons at Georgetown. He also served as a top assistant coach at Stanford, and Notre Dame. While an assistant, those squads went a combined 136–48–25, including nine straight tournament appearances. From 1996 to 2001, he served as an assistant coach at Stanford, where the team posted a 71–21–12 record. 2019 UConn Huskies Men's Soccer Team
The UConn Huskies men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Connecticut. The team is a member of the Big East Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). History Connecticut soccer existed prior to 1969, but was not considered a major sport and did not even have a real stadium. However, in 1969, Joe Morrone was hired as head coach, and made significant changes that would make the Huskies a premiere program. He started by building Connecticut Soccer Stadium, which now bears his name as Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Eventually, in Morrone's words, the team became "the Notre Dame of college soccer". Morrone would ultimately coach the team until he retired in 1994. In 1981, the Huskies won their first NCAA-sanctioned College Cup, defeating Alabama A&M 2–1 in overtime at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California. Wallis Annenberg Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium located on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles. The stadium is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's soccer programs, and replaced Drake Stadium as the home venue for the two programs. The UCLA Bruins men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of California at Los Angeles. Anteater Stadium is a 2,500-seat multi-purpose stadium with a bermuda grass field on the campus of University of California, Irvine in Irvine, California, United States.
