2019 French Open – Women's Singles
Ashleigh Barty defeated Markéta Vondroušová in the final, 6–1, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 French Open. It was her first Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major singles title, making her the first Australian to win a French Open singles title since Margaret Court in 1973 French Open – Women's singles, 1973 and the first to win any major singles title since Samantha Stosur at the 2011 US Open – Women's singles, 2011 US Open. Simona Halep was the defending champion, but lost to Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals. Anisimova became the first tennis player born in the 21st century to reach the quarterfinals and semifinals of a major. As most of the quarterfinalists were born in the 1990s. Barbora Krejčíková (; born 18 December 1995) is a Czech professional tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 2, achieved on 28 February 2022, and on 22 October 2018, she became world No. 1 in doubles. Sofya Zhuk
Sofya Andreyevna Zhuk ( rus, Софья Андреевна Жук, , ˈsofʲjə ɐnˈdrʲe(j)ɪvnə ˈʐuk; born 1 December 1999) is a former Russian tennis player. She won the 2015 Wimbledon girls' singles title. Peng Shuai (; born 8 January 1986) is a Chinese retired professional tennis player. In February 2014, she was ranked world No. 1 doubles player by the WTA, becoming the first Chinese tennis player to achieve that ranking (in either singles or doubles).
