Ashleigh Barty defeated Markéta Vondroušová in the final, 6–1, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 French Open. It was her first Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major singles title, making her the first Australian to win a French Open singles title since Margaret Court in 1973 French Open – Women's singles, 1973 and the first to win any major singles title since Samantha Stosur at the 2011 US Open – Women's singles, 2011 US Open. Simona Halep was the defending champion, but lost to Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals.
