2019 Football Victoria Season
The 2019 Football Victoria season refers to the soccer competitions contested under the organisation of Football Victoria in 2019. Across seven senior men's and six senior women's divisions, this was the 111th season of organised soccer in Victoria and the sixth following the latest competition restructure in 2013. Overall, the season was characterised by greater media attention and broadcasting efforts within the NPL, but was somewhat-marred by disciplinary issues at both the NPL and State League levels. The first year under FV's newly-rebranded name, it also saw further restructures to the men's competition structure, changes to the National Club Identity Policy, as well as expansion of the NPL junior boys leagues. Football Victoria is the state governing body for soccer in Victoria, Australia. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the sport's national governing body. History Football Victoria began operation in 1884 under the name Anglo Australian Football Association of Victoria and is one of the oldest sporting associations in Victoria. It has had several name changes over the years, but has survived as the governing body of soccer in Victoria since this time. In 2009, player registrations for soccer in Victoria passed 50,000, the highest number in the federation's history. Dandenong City SC
Dandenong City Soccer Club, formerly known as Chelsea Hajduk, is an Australian soccer club based in the South-East region of Melbourne, Victoria. The club's home is at Frank Holohan Soccer Complex in the suburb of Endeavour Hills. They compete in the NPL Victoria, which is the top tier of football in Victoria, having been promoted for the first time for the 2019 season. The club was founded in 1981 as Parkmore Hajduk, then was renamed Chelsea Hajduk by the Croatian Australian community in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs. Ballarat City FC
Ballarat City FC is an Australian semi-professional association football club based in Ballarat, Victoria. For most of its history, the club's home ground was Trekardo Park, before making the move to the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility in 2014. After the 2016 National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 season, the club members voted to reform the club from Ballarat Red Devils to Ballarat City, a move sanctioned by the Football Federation Victoria as they transferred the club's NPLV licence to the new entity. Box Hill United SC
Box Hill United Soccer Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the Melbourne suburb of Box Hill. The club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 3. United is based at Wembley Park in Box Hill South. History Box Hill entered the Victorian Division 4 in 1925. In their first season they lost one game and drew once to become champion and win promotion to division 3 for the 1926 season. This season proved to be just as successful as they once again became league champions, this time losing just two games throughout the season. Eastern Lions Soccer Club is an Australian football club based in Burwood, Victoria, currently playing in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2. Its home ground is the Gardiners Reserve. Club history Eastern Lions Soccer Club was founded in 1963 by a group of British expats under the name Waverley City Soccer Club. St Albans Saints Soccer Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in St Albans, Victoria. Established by local Croatian Australians as Dinamo, the club is a regular participant in the Australian-Croatian Soccer Tournament. The club is well known for having produced many great players over the years, including many that have gone on to play for its sister club the Melbourne Knights. Dinamo won promotion to the National Premier League (NPL) Victoria for the 2017 season but, after finishing second last, was relegated to the NPL 2. FC Bulleen Lions is an Australian semi-professional football club based in the Melbourne suburb Bulleen. Founded in 1974 by Melbourne's Italian community, the club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2, the second highest level of Victorian state soccer. Since its inception, the club has been based at David Barro stadium in the Veneto Club when it was both a stand-alone and a merged club. The National Premier Leagues Victoria 2, commonly referred to as NPL Victoria 2, is a semi-professional soccer league in Victoria, Australia. The league is the second-highest in the Victorian league system, behind the National Premier Leagues Victoria, and forms the third tier of the overall Australian league system. Originally founded as NPL 1 in 2014, it has undergone several changes in competition structure since its inception. Dandenong Thunder SC is a soccer club from Dandenong, a suburb in the South-East region of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They are an Albanian Australian-backed club. Thunder compete in the National Premier Leagues Victoria.
