2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held between 1 and 3 March 2019 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. This was the second time this event was held in the city after the 1990 edition and the third time it was held in the United Kingdom, following the 2007 Edition in Birmingham, England. The three-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events and took place over three morning and three afternoon sessions. Bids Apeldoorn, Glasgow, Minsk and Toruń all submitted bids to host the 2019 European Indoor championships. Glasgow were chosen to host the 35th edition of the event with 9 votes ahead of Toruń with 6 votes and Apeldoorn with 1. It is 29 years since Glasgow had last hosted the championships. Katerina Stefanidi
Katerina Stefanidi (Greek: Κατερίνα Στεφανίδη; born 4 February 1990) is a Greek pole vaulter. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics with a jump of 4.85 meters and has also competed at the 2012 London and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Stefanidi was the 2017 World champion and earned bronze at the 2019 World Championships. Indoors, she is a two-time World Indoor bronze medallist from 2016 and 2018. At the European Athletics Championships, she won two gold medals (2016, 2018) and two silvers (2014, 2022). She also earned two medals at the European Indoor Championships and is a four-time Diamond League winner. Amálie Švábíková (born 22 November 1999) is a Czech pole vaulter. She won the bronze medal at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. Švábíková claimed silver and gold at the 2019 and 2021 European Under-23 Championships respectively. She was the 2016 European U18 bronze medallist to take gold at the World U20 Championships two years later. Švábíková is the Czech indoor record holder for the pole vault and won six national titles. Angelica Bengtsson
Angelica Therese Bengtsson (born 8 July 1993) is a Swedish track and field athlete who specialises in the pole vault. She became the first pole vault winner at the inaugural Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore, 2010. Bengtsson has won gold medals at the 2009 World Youth Championships and the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics. She set a mark of 4.47 m for the youth world record for the event in 2010 and broke the world junior record with a vault of 4.63 m in 2011. Tina Šutej (born 7 November 1988) is a Slovenian pole vaulter. She won bronze medals at the 2022 World Indoor Championships and 2022 European Championships. Šutej earned a silver at the 2021 European Indoor Championships and again in 2023. She took silver at the 2006 World Junior Championships. Šutej is the Slovenian record holder both in and outdoors.
