2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held between 1 and 3 March 2019 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. This was the second time this event was held in the city after the 1990 edition and the third time it was held in the United Kingdom, following the 2007 Edition in Birmingham, England. The three-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events and took place over three morning and three afternoon sessions. Bids Apeldoorn, Glasgow, Minsk and Toruń all submitted bids to host the 2019 European Indoor championships. Glasgow were chosen to host the 35th edition of the event with 9 votes ahead of Toruń with 6 votes and Apeldoorn with 1. It is 29 years since Glasgow had last hosted the championships. Sam Parsons (born June 18, 1994) is a German-American long-distance runner. He attended the Tatnall School of Wilmington, Delaware and later competed on the collegiate level at North Carolina State University. In 2019, he gained German citizenship and has since represented the country at the 2019, 2022, and 2023 World Athletics Championships. Athletics career High school Parsons was coached by Patrick Castagno and competed in cross country or track and field all 12 seasons. Yoann Kowal (born 28 May 1987) is a French middle distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres steeplechase. Personal life Kowal is married to Marianne and has a daughter Elea. His father Daniel held the national title in the 3000 m steeplechase, and his mother Nadine was a French duathlon champion. Sam Atkin (born 14 March 1993) is a Great Britain, British Olympic athlete specialising in long-distance running, predominantly the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres, 10,000 m races. Andrew Butchart (born 14 October 1991) is a British runner who competed in the 5000 metres event at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the current Scottish record holder in the 3000, 5000 and 10,000 metre events. In June 2023, he broke the parkrun “world-record”.
