2019 Cross River State Gubernatorial Election
The 2019 Cross River State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent People's Democratic Party (Nigeria), PDP Governor Benedict Ayade won re-election for a second term, defeating All Progressives Congress, APC's John Owan Enoh, and several minor party candidates. Ayade won in all 18 Local government area, LGAs of the state with a total of 73.04% of popular vote, while Enoh with no win in any LGA was his closest contestant with a total of 25.11% of popular vote having 250,323 votes less than Ayade. Benedict Ayade, Ben Ayade emerged unopposed in the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria), PDP gubernatorial primary elections as the sole candidate, after the other candidate was disqualified. Benedict Ayade
Ayade Benedict Bengiuoshuye CON was born on the 2nd of March, 1968 and hails from Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. He holds a B.Sc., LLB, BL, M.Sc., MBA, LLM and a Ph.D. He bagged his PhD at a tender age of 26 from the prestigious University of Ibadan and became a professor of science at the age of 36. Bakassi
Bakassi is a peninsula on the Gulf of Guinea. It lies between the Cross River estuary, near the city of Calabar and the Rio del Ray estuary on the east. It is governed by Cameroon, following the transfer of sovereignty from neighbouring Nigeria as a result of a judgment by the International Court of Justice. The Alliance for Democracy is a progressive opposition political party in Nigeria. It was formed on 9 September 1998. At the 2003 legislative elections, 12 April 2003, the party won 8.8% of the popular vote and 34 out of 360 seats in the Nigerian House of Representatives and 18 out of 109 seats in the Nigerian Senate.
