2019 Bhutan Premier League
The 2019 Bhutan Premier League was the eighth season of unified league, rebranded as the Bhutan Premier League (previously the ''Bhutan National League''), the top national football competition in Bhutan, having replaced the A-Division in 2013. The Bhutan Football Federation implemented a new league structure for this season. The top division is named Bhutan Premier League (BPL) and has featured ten teams across the country. The second division is named Bhutan Super League (BSL) and has featured nine teams across the country, replacing Thimphu League as qualifying competition for the Premier League. The lowest division is named Dzongkhag League where teams play in their respective districts (Dzongkhags) to gain promotion to the Super League. Paro FC
Paro FC is a Bhutanese professional football club based in Paro that competes in the Bhutan Premier League, the top level of Bhutanese football. History Paro FC competed in the 2018 Bhutan National League after beating Paro United in the qualifying tournament, and finished the season as the runners-up behind Transport United. In 2019, Paro FC reached the semi-finals of the first-ever Samtse Championship. During the same season, Paro FC won its first national league title by winning the 2019 edition of the Bhutan Premier League. Transport United FC
Transport United Football Club is a Bhutanese professional football club based in Thimphu that competes in the Bhutan Premier League, the top level of Bhutanese football. The club was founded in 2001 and plays at the Changlimithang Stadium. Transport United has won five national championships, and was a dominant force in Bhutanese football throughout much of the first decade of the 21st century. In the 2017 season, the club won the title after completing an entire season undefeated, and hence qualified for the AFC Cup for the first time. Phuentsholing United F
Phuntsholing, also spelled as Phuentsholing ( dz, ཕུན་ཚོགས་གླིང་), is a border town in southern Bhutan and is the administrative seat of Chukha District. The town occupies parts of both Phuentsholing Gewog and Sampheling Gewog. Phuentsholing adjoins the Indian town of Jaigaon, and cross-border trade has resulted in a thriving local economy. The town had the headquarters of the Bank of Bhutan previously but shifted to Thimphu. In 2017, Phuentsholing had a population of 27,658. The Druk ( bo, འབྲུག, dz, ་) is the "Thunder Dragon" of Tibetan and Bhutanese mythology and a Bhutanese national symbol. A druk appears on the flag of Bhutan, holding jewels to represent wealth. In Dzongkha, Bhutan is called ''Druk Yul'' "Land of Druk", and Bhutanese leaders are called Druk Gyalpo, "Thunder Dragon Kings". Changlimithang Stadium
Changlimithang Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan, which serves as the national stadium. It is predominantly used for football matches and is the home of the Bhutan national football team, other national selections and number of Thimphu-based football clubs. The stadium also regularly plays host to women's football, archery tournaments, minifootball and some volleyball matches. The stadium was initially constructed in 1974 for the coronation of the fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck, but was completely refurbished in 2007 in advance of the coronation of the fifth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. Thimphu FC
Thimphu Football Club was a professional football club from Bhutan, based at the Changlimithang Stadium. History The club finished in a qualifying position during the 2001 season and were then drawn in Group A along with Paro and Drukpol. They managed a win against Paro and then drew with Drukpol to top the group and qualified for the semifinals. Although they lost to Samtse in the semifinals, they beat Drukpol in the third place final to finish third overall. Thimpu also participated in 2002, although their final position is not known. The only known result involving Thimpu is a 5–1 victory over Drukpol. Bhutan National Under-20 Football Team
The Bhutan national under-19/20 football team (also known as BFF Academy) represents Bhutan in men's international under-19/20 football. The team is controlled by the governing body for football in Bhutan, the Bhutan Football Federation, which is currently a member of the Asian Football Federation and the regional body the South Asian Football Federation. They are currently participating in Bhutan Premier League. Bhutan National Under-17 Football Team
The Bhutan national under-17 football team represents Bhutan in men's international under-17 football. The team is controlled by the governing body for football in Bhutan, the Bhutan Football Federation, which is currently a member of the Asian Football Federation and the regional body the South Asian Football Federation. The under-17 team has played sporadically since its first foray into international football in 2004, competing exclusively either in the qualifying rounds for the AFC U-16 Championship or the SAFF U-16 Championship.
