2019 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2019 WNBA season was the 12th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. The team began its season on May 24, 2019 against the Dallas Wings and concluded the season on September 8 against the New York Liberty. On December 13, 2018 the Atlanta Dream announced that they would return to State Farm Arena, formerly Philips Arena, after playing the previous two seasons at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion while State Farm Arena underwent a $192.5 million renovation. The Dream endured a season without star Angel McCoughtry, who missed time with a knee ligament injury sustained in 2018. The Dream started slowly only winning 2 games of their first ten. Early July brought some hope to the team, with the Dream winning three of four games between July 5 and July 12. Nicki Collen
Nicki Collen (née Taggart; born May 13, 1975) is an American basketball coach and is currently the head women's basketball coach at Baylor University. Early life Collen was born in Indiana and her family moved to Platteville, Wisconsin when she was 10 years old. While living in Wisconsin, Collen attended basketball camps with Bo Ryan. Playing career Collen began her playing career at Purdue, where she was on a team that made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 1994 and 1995 and won consecutive Big 10 Championships. During her junior year, she transferred to Marquette, where she led the team to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. She earned all conference honors while at Marquette and was ranked third nationally in assists during her senior season. Nia Coffey
Nia Coffey (born June 11, 1995) is an American professional basketball player with the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). A small forward, she was drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 WNBA draft, which is the highest of any Northwestern Wildcats women's basketball, Northwestern basketball player in school history. Marie Gülich (born 28 May 1994) is a German professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. She was drafted 12th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2018 WNBA draft. Haley Peters (born September 17, 1992) is an American professional women's basketball forward. She was undrafted in the 2014 WNBA Draft, but has signed with three separate teams in her career. College career Before coming to Duke, Peters was a McDonald's All-America selection in 2010, and New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year. Damiris Dantas do Amaral (born November 17, 1992) is a Brazilian basketball player. Together with the junior Brazilian team, she won the bronze medal at the Under-19 World Championship in 2011, Chile, and was named Most Valuable Player at that tournament.
