2019 ASUN Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2019 ASUN men's basketball tournament was the conference postseason tournament for the ASUN Conference. The tournament was the 40th year the league has conducted a postseason tournament. The tournament was held March 4, 7, and 10, 2019 at campus sites of the higher seeds. Liberty upset top-seeded Lipscomb 74–68 in the championship game to win the tournament, and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Seeds Because North Alabama is in the first year of a four-year transition from NCAA Division II to Division I, it will not be eligible to compete in either the NCAA Tournament or the NCAA-operated NIT. Should the Lions win the ASUN tournament final, the ASUN's automatic NCAA Tournament bid goes either to Lipscomb or to Liberty if Liberty advances further than Lipscomb in the A-Sun tournament. 2018–19 North Alabama Lions Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 North Alabama Lions men's basketball team represented University of North Alabama during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by head coach Tony Pujol in his first season at North Alabama. The Lions played their home games at the Flowers Hall in Florence, Alabama as first-time members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. This season marks North Alabama's first of a four-year transition period from Division II to Division I. As a result, the Lions are not eligible for NCAA postseason play but can participate in the ASUN tournament. They could also play in the CIT or CBI if invited. The 2019 ASUN women's basketball tournament was the 33re edition of the ASUN Conference championship. It took place March 8, 13, and 17 in several arenas at campus sites. 2018–19 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles women's basketball team, Florida Gulf Coast won the conference tournament championship game over 2018–19 Liberty Lady Flames basketball team, Liberty, 72–49. Format The ASUN Championship is a three-day single-elimination tournament. Eight teams will compete in the championship, with the higher seeded team in each matchup hosting the game. ASUN Men's Basketball Tournament
The ASUN Conference men's basketball tournament (formerly known as the Trans America Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament between 1979 and 2001) is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the ASUN Conference, formerly known as the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) and Atlantic Sun Conference. The tournament has been held every year since 1979, except for 1992–93. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. 2018–19 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season

National Invitation Tournament
The National Invitational Tournament (NIT) is a men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Played at regional sites and traditionally at Madison Square Garden (Final Four) in New York City each March and April, it was founded in 1938 and was originally the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball. The 2021 tournament, in which all games were played in Denton and Frisco, Texas, marked the first time that the NIT's semifinals and championship games were not hosted at Madison Square Garden; MSG won't play host to the games entirely starting in 2023. NCAA Division II
NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. Before 1973, the NCAA's smaller schools were grouped together in the College Division. In 1973, the College Division split in two when the NCAA began using numeric designations for its competitions.
