2018–19 Wofford Terriers Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Wofford Terriers men's basketball team represented Wofford College during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Terriers, led by 17th-year head coach Mike Young, played their home games at the newly opened Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina as members of the Southern Conference. On February 25, 2019, the Terriers entered the AP Poll at No. 24. This was Wofford's first AP Poll appearance in program history. They finished the season 30–5, and 18–0 in SoCon play, to win the regular season championship. They defeated VMI, East Tennessee State, and UNC Greensboro to be champions of the SoCon tournament. They received the SoCon's automatic-bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Seton Hall in the first round before losing in the second round to Kentucky. Mike Young (basketball)
Michael Kent Young (born May 1, 1963) is an American college basketball coach and currently the head men's basketball coach at Virginia Tech. He was hired on April 7, 2019, after a 17-year stint where he went 299–244 () as the head coach at Wofford College. Career Born in Radford, Virginia, Young played collegiately at Emory & Henry College. After completing his career, which included serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons, Young began his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma mater. In 1988, he left Emory & Henry to serve one year as an assistant to Oliver Purnell at Radford University. In 1989, Young began his tenure as an assistant coach at Wofford. He would go on to spend the next 30 years at the school, helping to guide the Terriers in their transition from Division II to Division I independent status, and finally to a spot in the Southern Conference, where the Terriers compete today. 2018 Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2018 Southern Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Southern Conference for the 2017–18 season. All tournament games were played at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina, from March 2 through 5, 2018. UNC Greensboro defeated East Tennessee State in the championship game to win the tournament and receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Seeds All ten teams in the Southern Conference were eligible to compete in the conference tournament. Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. The top six teams received a first-round bye. Hopkinsville, Kentucky
Hopkinsville is a home rule-class city in and the county seat of Christian County, Kentucky, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 31,577. History Early years The area of present-day Hopkinsville was initially claimed in 1796 by Bartholomew Wood as part of a grant for his service in the American Revolution. He and his wife Martha Ann moved from Jonesborough, Tennessee, first to a cabin near present-day W. Seventh and Bethel streets; then to a second cabin near present-day 9th and Virginia streets; and finally to a third home near 14th and Campbell. Following the creation of Christian County the same year, the Woods donated of land and a half interest in their Old Rock Spring to form its seat of government in 1797. Plainfield, Illinois
Plainfield is a village in Will and Kendall counties, Illinois, United States. The population was 44,762 at the 2020 census. The village includes land in Will County's Plainfield and Wheatland townships, as well as Na-Au-Say and Oswego townships in Kendall County. It is part of the Gainesville, Georgia metropolitan area, and lies on the shores of Lake Lanier. Blythewood is a town in Richland and Fairfield counties, South Carolina, United States. It is a suburb of Columbia, South Carolina.
