2018–19 Sunderland A.F.C. Season
The 2018–19 season was Sunderland's 140th season in existence, and their first season in the third tier of English football since 1987, after relegation from the Premier League two seasons ago and the Championship the previous season. Along with competing in League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup and EFL Cup as well as the EFL Trophy. The season covered the period from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019. Sunderland () is a port city in Tyne and Wear, England. It is the City of Sunderland's administrative centre and in the Historic counties of England, historic county of County of Durham, Durham. The city is from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and is on the River Wear's mouth to the North Sea. The river also flows through Durham, England, Durham roughly south-west of Sunderland City Centre. Bryan Josué Oviedo Jiménez (born 18 February 1990) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a left-back or left midfielder for Real Salt Lake and the Costa Rica national team. In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield position whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. Adam Matthews
Adam James Matthews (born 13 January 1992) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a right back for Omonia and for the Wales national team. Anthony Patterson (born 10 May 2000) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Sunderland. He represents England U21 internationally.
