The 2018–19 Sporting CP season was the club's 113th season in existence and 85th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. Overview August Sporting CP began the domestic season on 12 August 2018 with a 3–1 away win against Moreirense through two goals from Bas Dost and one from Bruno Fernandes. Sporting CP
Sporting Clube de Portugal, founded Sporting Club de Portugal (), otherwise referred to as Sporting CP, often known abroad as Sporting Lisbon , is a Portuguese professional sports club based in Lisbon. It is best known for the professional football team playing in the Primeira Liga, the top flight of Portuguese football. Founded on 1 July 1906, Sporting is one of the " Big Three" clubs in Portugal that have never been relegated from Primeira Liga, along with rivals Benfica and Porto. Sporting are nicknamed ''Leões'' (Lions), for the symbol used in the middle of the club's crest, and ''Verde e Brancos'' (Green and Whites), for the shirt colour that are in (horizontal) stripes. Bas Dost
Bas Dost (; born 31 May 1989) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a forward for Eredivisie club FC Utrecht. Having begun his career at FC Emmen in the Eerste Divisie, Dost later played in the Eredivisie for Heracles Almelo and SC Heerenveen. In 2012, after being the top scorer in the league with 32 goals in 34 games, he was signed by VfL Wolfsburg. Four years later, having helped his team win the DFB-Pokal he signed for Primeira Liga side Sporting CP. He won the Bola de Prata for top scorer in his first Primeira Liga season, with 34 goals in 31 games. At Sporting, Dost won the Taça de Portugal once and the Taça da Liga twice, totalling 93 goals in 125 games. Dost played for the Netherlands at under-20 and under-21 level. He was called up to the senior side for the first time in August 2012, but did not make his debut until March 2015. Raphael Dias Belloli (born 14 December 1996), known as Raphinha, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a winger for La Liga club Barcelona and the Brazil national team. He began his career in with Avaí, but left for Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães in 2016, where he made his professional début. After impressive performances, he signed for Sporting CP, where he spent a year before signing for French club Rennes. After a year he was on the move again, signing for English club Leeds United, where he spent two years before transferring to Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth £50 million. Romain Jules Salin (born 29 July 1984) is a French former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent most of his professional career in Portugal's Primeira Liga, making 140 appearances for Naval, Marítimo, Rio Ave and Sporting CP, winning a Taça de Portugal and two Taça da Liga titles with the last of those clubs. Rodrigo Andrés Battaglia (; ; born 12 July 1991) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro. Club career Battaglia was born in Argentina and is of Italian descent. He spent time in the youth divisions of Vélez Sársfield and Almagro before joining Huracán. Stefan Ristovski ( mk, Стефан Ристовски; born 12 February 1992) is a Macedonian footballer who plays as a right-back for Dinamo Zagreb and the North Macedonia national team. Club career Born in Skopje, Ristovski began his career at hometown club Vardar before he signed a five-year deal with Italian club Parma in January 2010. Marcos Javier Acuña (born 28 October 1991) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a left back for La Liga club Sevilla and the Argentina national team.
