2018–19 South Dakota Coyotes Women's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 South Dakota Coyotes women's basketball represent University of South Dakota in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Coyotes, led by third year head coach Dawn Plitzuweit, compete in the Summit League. They play home games in Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, South Dakota. Previous season In the 2017–18 South Dakota Coyotes women's basketball team, 2017–18 season, the Coyotes went 29–7 overall and 14–0 in conference play, finishing first in The Summit League. The Coyotes lost in the championship game of the 2018 Summit League women's basketball tournament, 2018 Summit League Tournament to 2017–18 South Dakota State Jackrabbits women's basketball team, South Dakota State 50–65. Sanford Coyote Sports Center
The Sanford Coyote Sports Center is an indoor arena located on the campus of the University of South Dakota (USD) in Vermillion, South Dakota. The facility opened in 2016 and hosts the university's men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's volleyball teams. It has a seating capacity of 6,000. The center is named after a major supporter of the athletic program, Sanford Health, which donated $20 million to help with construction of the facility. The facility is connected to the DakotaDome, which had previously been home to all of the new arena's main tenants and remains home to Coyote football, track & field, and swimming & diving. Watertown High School (WHS) is a public high school in Watertown, South Dakota. The school was the first in the state and the second in the United States in which every student and teacher was issued a laptop computer. Academics Watertown High School has a dual-enrollment program with the neighboring Lake Area Technical Institute campus, allowing students to take college level course during all four years of enrollment. The school is located near highway K-10 and Lexington Avenue on 91st Street. Around 900 students in grades 9–12 attend DHS. History The school first opened in 1919 as a small white wooden school in De Soto.
