The 2018–19 Nemzeti Bajnokság I (known as the ''K&H Bank, K&H férfi kézilabda liga'' for sponsorship reasons) is the 68th season of the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (men's handball), Nemzeti Bajnokság I, Hungary, Hungarian premier Handball league. Team information As in the previous season, 14 teams played in the 2018–19 season. After the 2017–18 Nemzeti Bajnokság I (men's handball), 2017–18 season, Váci KSE and Orosházi FKSE were relegated to the 2018–19 Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B (men's handball), 2018–19 Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B. They were replaced by two clubs from the 2017–18 Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B (men's handball), 2017–18 Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B; Mezőkövesdi KC and Vecsés SE. The Nemzeti Bajnokság I ( en, National Championship I, commonly abbreviated NB I) is the premier men's professional handball league in Hungary, administered by the Hungarian Handball Federation. Since 2016 the official name of the championship is ''K&H Férfi Kézilabda Liga'' due to sponsorship reasons. Overview Running since 1951, the Hungarian championship is among the strongests in Europe. MKB Veszprém KC have won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2008 and have reached the semi-final of the EHF Champions League three times in the last nine seasons, capturing a silver medal in 2002. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. Cegléd (; german: Zieglet) is a city in Pest County, Pest county, Hungary, approximately southeast of the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Name The name of the town is of disputed origin. Balatonfüred (german: Bad Plattensee, sk, Blatenské Teplice) is a resort town in Veszprém county, in Hungary, with a population of 13,000, situated on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. Vecsés SE
Vecsés (german: Wetschesch) is a town of 20,550 inhabitants in Budapest metropolitan area, Pest County, Hungary, situated adjacent to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. History The village was first mentioned in records in 1318. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the region had a dense network of villages and extant documents mention it as an ecclesiastical place. In 1786 Count Antal Grassalkovich settled 50 families in Vecsés, who were mainly Swabian, and to a lesser extent Slovakian and Hungarian inhabitants from the surrounding villages.
