2018–19 Miami Hurricanes Women's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Miami hurricanes women's basketball team represented the University of Miami during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Hurricanes, led by fourteenth-year head coach Katie Meier, played their home games at the Watsco Center in Miami, Florida and were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). They finished the season 25–9, 10–6 in ACC play, to finish in a tie for third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the ACC women's tournament to Syracuse. They received an at-large bid of the NCAA women's tournament where they defeated Florida Gulf Coast in the first round before losing to Arizona State in the second round. Previous season For the 2017–18 season, the Hurricanes finished 21–11 overall and 10–6 in ACC play to finish in a three-way tie for sixth place. Katie Meier
Katie Meier (born December 19, 1967) is a former college basketball coach who last coached the women's basketball team at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She is a 1990 graduate of Duke University, where she played college basketball. Upon her retirement from coaching in 2024, Meier had the most wins (362) of any coach of the Miami Hurricanes women's basketball, University of Miami women's basketball team in the program's 50-year history. Playing career Meier's success as a coach is a direct reflection on her playing career as a stand-out at Duke University. A four-year letter winner for the Blue Devils under head coach Debbie Leonard from 1986 to 1990, Meier's name is scattered throughout the Duke record books.
