2018–19 Green Bay Phoenix Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Phoenix, led by fourth-year head coach Linc Darner, played their home games at the Resch Center, with five home games at the Kress Events Center, as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 21–17, 10–8 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for fourth place. They defeated UIC in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League tournament before losing in the semifinals to Wright State. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated East Tennessee State, FIU, Cal State Bakersfield, and Texas Southern to advance to the championship game where they lost to Marshall. Linc Darner
Linc Mitchel Darner (born December 12, 1970) is an American basketball coach and former men's basketball coach of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay Phoenix. Darner previously spent nine seasons as the head coach at DII Florida Southern College and four seasons at Saint Joseph's College (Indiana). In 2015, Darner's Florida Southern Moccasins finished 36–1 and won the NCAA Division II National Championship. Darner was named the 2015 NABC UPS DII National Coach of the Year. Darner took over at Green Bay after Brian Wardle left in 2015. In his first season, he led the Phoenix to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1996. Darner was fired on May 17, 2020, after posting a 17–16 record in 2019–20. Playing career Darner played high school basketball at Highland High School in Anderson, Indiana. 2017–18 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 10, 2017. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season ended with the Final Four in San Antonio on April 2, 2018. Practices officially began on September 29, 2017. Rule changes The following rule changes were proposed for the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season: * Expanding the coaches' box from 28 feet to 38 feet. * Resetting the shot clock to 20 seconds when the ball is inbounded in the front court after a foul or violation (ex. kicked ball) by the defense. If there are more than 20 seconds on the shot clock in this situation, the shot clock will not be reset. Previously the shot clock was reset to the full 30 seconds regardless of the time remaining on the shot clock. * Allow referees to use instant replay in the final 2:00 of the second half and/or overtime to determine if a secondary defensive player was either inside or outside of the restricted arc. Seymour is a city in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,451 at the 2010 census. The city is located within the Town of Seymour and the Town of Osborn. History Seymour was founded in 1868 and named after Governor Horatio Seymour of New York. William and John Ausbourne were the first settlers in Seymour. They had traveled from western Outagamie County on the Wolf River during the summer of 1857, making their way to the mouth of the Shioc River and moving to a spot where the Black Creek flows into the Shioc.
