2018–19 Football Superleague Of Kosovo
The 2018–19 Football Superleague of Kosovo season, also known as the IPKO Superleague of Kosovo ( sq, IPKO Superliga e Kosovës) for sponsorship reasons with IPKO is the 20th season of top-tier football in Kosovo. The season began on 18 August 2018 and will end on 19 May 2019. A total of 12 teams are competing in the league: nine teams from the 2017–18 season and three teams from the 2017–18 First Football League of Kosovo. Drita are the defending champions from the previous season. Teams and stadiums Besa Pejë and Vllaznia Pozheran were relegated after finishing the previous season in eleventh and twelfth-place respectively. They will be replaced by the champions and runners-up of the 2017–18 First League, Ballkani and KEK respectively. The Football Superleague of Kosovo ( sq, Superliga e Futbollit të Kosovës), also known as the ALBI MALL Superleague of Kosovo ( sq, ALBI MALL Superliga e Kosovës) for sponsorship reasons with Albi Mall, is the top level of the Kosovar football league system. The Superleague is organized by the Football Federation of Kosovo and the division currently has a 10-team format. The clubs play each other four times during the season for a 36-match schedule. At the end of the season, the bottom two teams in the division are relegated to the second tier, First Football League of Kosovo. The Superleague ran outside FIFA and UEFA until Kosovo was admitted to both organizations, on 3 May 2016. Football Club Ferizaj ( sq, Klubi Futbollistik Ferizaj), commonly known as Ferizaj, is a professional football club based in Ferizaj, Kosovo. The club plays in the Football Superleague of Kosovo, which is the first tier of football in the country. The Bajram Aliu is a multi-use stadium in Skenderaj, Kosovo. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Drenica of the Kosovar Superliga. The stadium holds 9,000 people. It was built prior to the Kosovo War. After a 25-year attempt to join the UEFA (and by extension FIFA), Kosovo was permitted to join in 2016, which opened them up to much-needed financial sponsorship that would be put into renovating and restoring existing football facilities. Skenderaj ( sq-definite, Skënderaj or ''Skënderaji'') or Srbica ( sr-Cyrl, Србица) is a town and municipality located in the Mitrovica District of Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the town of Skënderaj has 9,372 inhabitants, while the municipality has 50,858 inhabitants. It is the largest city in the Drenica geographical region of Kosovo. Suhareka (also known as Suharekë and Therandë in Albanian) оr Suva Reka ( sr-Cyrl, Сува Река) is a town and municipality located in the Prizren district of central-southern Kosovo. The Football Federation of Kosovo ( sq, Federata e Futbollit e Kosovës; FFK) is the governing body of football in Kosovo, with headquarters in Pristina. The Football Federation of Kosovo was established in 1946 as a branch of the Football Association of Yugoslavia, it has since become independent and was headed by Fadil Vokrri until his sudden death in 2018.
