2018–19 Dumbarton F.C. Season
Season 2018–19 was Dumbarton's first in the third tier of Scottish football for six years, having finished ninth and lost the playoffs in 2017–18. Dumbarton also competed in the Challenge Cup, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup. Story of the season May Two days after the Sons relegation to Scottish League One club director Callum Hosie died. The same day Tom Walsh became the first member of the squad to depart, joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a two-year deal. On 16 May the club released seven players, with David Smith, David Wilson, Kyle Prior, Grant Gallagher, Chris Johnston, Dougie Hill and Dimitris Froxylias all exiting. Meanwhile, Jamie Ewings was released as a player, but continued as the club's goalkeeper coach. Calum Gallagher, Scott Gallacher, Andy Dowie, Stuart Carswell, Kyle Hutton and Danny Handling were all offered new deals, whilst Christopher McLaughlin and Iain Russell were offered training facilities. Dumbarton F
Dumbarton (; also sco, Dumbairton; ) is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. In 2006, it had an estimated population of 19,990. Dumbarton was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde, and later the county town of Dunbartonshire. Dumbarton Castle, on top of Dumbarton Rock, dominates the area. Dumbarton was a Royal burgh between 1222 and 1975. Scott Gallacher
Scott Gallacher (born 15 July 1989) is a Scottish professional footballer, who plays for Alloa Athletic as a goalkeeper. Gallacher has previously played for Rangers, Cowdenbeath, Forfar Athletic, Airdrieonians, Heart of Midlothian, Alloa Athletic (in a previous spell), St Mirren, Hibernian, Dumbarton, Arbroath and East Fife. He also played five times for the Scotland under-21 team between 2008 and 2010. Career Gallacher started his career with Rangers. Dimitris Froxylias ( el, Δημήτρης Φροξυλιάς; born 28 June 1993) is a Cypriot professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for PAC Omonia 29M. Club career Born in Larissa, Greece, Froxylias began his early career in 2005, aged 12, at Toxotis Larissa's youth team. Dougie Hill
Douglas Hill (born 16 January 1985) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a defender used to play for Scottish lowland league side Cowdenbeath. At the start of the 2022/2023 season Hill took on the role as assistant manager while playing when required at Kelty Hearts. He has previously played for Alloa Athletic, Cowdenbeath twice, Raith Rovers, Dumbarton, Brechin City and Kelty Hearts. Chris Johnston (born 3 September 1994) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Scottish League One club Stranraer Career A member of Kilmarnock's under-19 squad, Johnston was promoted to the first team on 14 January 2012, where he was an unused substitute in their match against Aberdeen. David Wilson (born 6 September 1994) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Dumbarton. Career Wilson joined Partick Thistle in the summer of 2011, and made his senior debut for the club on 1 January 2014. He signed a new one-year contract in June 2014. He signed on loan for Stranraer in January 2017. Wilson left Firhill in May 2017, after his contract with the club was not renewed. Tom Walsh (footballer)
Tom Walsh (born 11 July 1996) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Championship in his second stint with the club. He became the youngest player to make an appearance for Rangers in Scottish league football, when he played for them aged 16 in 2012. Scottish League One
The Scottish League One, known as cinch League One for sponsorship reasons, is the third tier of the Scottish Professional Football League, the league competition for men's professional football clubs in Scotland. The Scottish League One was established in July 2013, after the Scottish Professional Football League was formed by a merger of the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League. Format Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored.
