2018–19 Detroit Mercy Titans Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Detroit Mercy Titans men's basketball team represented the University of Detroit Mercy during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Titans, led by first-year head coach Mike Davis, played their home games at Calihan Hall as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 11–20 overall, 8–10 in Horizon League play, ending in a 3-way tie for sixth place. As the No. 7 seed in the Horizon League tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals to eventual tournament champion Northern Kentucky, Previous season The Titans finished the season 8–24, 4–14 in Horizon League play to finish in last place. Mike Davis (basketball Coach)
Michael Davis (born September 15, 1960) is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Detroit Mercy, a position he has held since 2018. Davis served as the head men's basketball coach at Indiana University Bloomington from 2000 to 2006, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 2006 to 2012, and Texas Southern University from 2012 to 2018. Playing career Davis, an Alabama native, spent his collegiate playing career with the University of Alabama Crimson Tide after earning the state's Mr. Basketball honor in 1979. In his first season, he played for the legendary C. M. Newton and then spent his final three years playing under another coaching legend, Wimp Sanderson. The Wayne State Warriors are the athletic teams that represent Wayne State University, located in Detroit, Michigan, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions.
