Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway. It was created in 1687, then named Trondhjem County ( no, Trondhjems Amt); in 1804 the county was split into Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag by the King of Denmark-Norway, and the counties were reunited in 2018 after a vote of the two counties in 2016. The largest city in Trøndelag is the city of Trondheim. The administrative centre is Steinkjer, while Trondheim functions as the office of the county mayor. Olaf Michael "Olemic" Thommessen (born 18 April 1956 in Lillehammer) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party and the President of the Storting from 2013 until 2018. On 8 March 2018, he announced that he would step down due to controversies surrounding a building project for a new entrance to the garage for Stortinget. The project saw the initial budget ballooning and questionable decisions taken and Thommessen acknowledged his overall responsibility and said he would step down. Hedmark County Municipality ( no, Hedmark fylkeskommune) was the regional governing administration of the old Hedmark county in Norway. The county municipality was established in its most recent form on 1 January 1976 when the law was changed to allow elected county councils in Norway. The county municipality was dissolved on 1 January 2020, when Hedmark was merged with the neighboring Oppland county, creating the new Innlandet county which is led by the Innlandet County Municipality.
