2018 Val-d'Oise's 1st Constituency By-election
The first round of a by-election was held in Val-d'Oise's 1st constituency on 28 January 2018, with a second round on 4 February because no candidate secured a majority of votes in the first round. The by-election was called due to the invalidation of the election of Isabelle Muller-Quoy, candidate of La République En Marche! (REM), in the June 2017 legislative elections by the Constitutional Council on 16 November 2017. It was the first legislative by-election held during the 15th National Assembly. In the first round on 28 January, Isabelle Muller-Quoy of La République En Marche! and Antoine Savignat of The Republicans (LR) advanced to the second round, as they did in June 2017, with Muller-Quoy securing a considerably lower share of the vote amid low turnout. Agnès Buzyn (born 1 November 1962) is a French hematologist, university professor, medical practitioner and politician who served as Minister of Solidarity and Health in the government of Prime Minister Édouard Philippe from May 2017 to February 2020. Adrien Quatennens (; born 23 May 1990) is a French politician who has represented Nord's 1st constituency in the National Assembly since 2017. From June 2019 until September 2022, he was also the party coordinator of La France Insoumise (LFI). Quatennens was first elected to the National Assembly in the 2017 legislative election before he was reelected in 2022. Early life and education Adrien Quatennens was born on 23 May 1990 in Lille, Nord. Alexis Corbière
Alexis Corbière (; born 17 August 1968) is a French politician. A member of La France Insoumise (FI), he has been member of the National Assembly for the 7th constituency of the Seine-Saint-Denis department since 2017. Corbière is also a spokesperson for La France Insoumise and the party's leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the 2017 French presidential election. A former member of the Revolutionary Communist League from 1993 to 1997, Corbière then joined the Socialist Party where he was elected as the deputy mayor for the 12th arrondissement of Paris in 2001 and would continue to hold this position until 2014. Nicolas Bay (born 21 December 1977) is a French politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from France. He served as General Secretary of the National Front from 2014 to 2017. He has served as a Regional Councillor for Normandy since January 2016, having previously served as a Municipal Councillor for Elbeuf from 2014 to 2015.
